Nebraska forward Derrick Walker has made a decision on next season.

The 6-foot-9 forward announced on Tuesday that he will return to Lincoln for the 2022-23 college basketball season. That’s great news for the Huskers, needing to have experience and talent on the roster to climb out of the bottom of the B1G.

Walker started in all 32 games for the Huskers last season and averaged 9.5 points and 6 rebounds per contest. He played extremely well in the final 5 games of the year, reaching double figures in 4 of those games and collecting at least 5 rebounds in each contest.

Walker scored a season-high 16 points multiple times in games against Northwestern, Michigan State and Tennessee State. He scored 10 points or more in 18 games.

Walker also ended the year with 3 double-double performances.

Over his time at Tennesse and Nebraska, Walker has played in 112 games, making 48 starts. He’s averaging 4.4 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest during the course of his career.

Nebraska ended the 2021-22 season with a 10-22 record with a 4-16 mark in B1G play. The Huskers did close the regular season on a high note, defeating Penn State, No. 23 Ohio State and No. 10 Wisconsin in three-straight games to end the year.
