Nebraska star Isaiah Roby declared for the NBA Draft on Friday, but plans to keep the option of a return to Lincoln open.
Roby posted a message to his Twitter and Instagram accounts on Friday afternoon, announcing that he will pursue the NBA Draft. However, during the evaluation process, he will keep his college availability in the event that a return to the Huskers is in his best interest.
“I would like to announce that I am declaring for the NBA draft,” Roby wrote. “I have full belief in my ability to help a team at the NBA level, but as I gather valuable feedback regarding my NBA status throuhgout this process, I will be maintaining my collegiate eligibility in order to keep all of my options open and to ultimately make a decision that will be in the best interests of my long-term success.”
I’m thankful for Nebraska for being my home over the last three years. Coach Miles, the staff, my teammates and fans have embraced me, and I am truly grateful for everything. With… https://t.co/BbCiChkHX3

In his junior season with the Huskers, Roby averaged 11.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. He stepped into a much bigger role when star Isaac Copeland went down midway through the year.
Roby was particularly good near the end of the season. He scored a season-high 28 points in Nebraska’s NIT victory over Butler and dropped 23 points in an overtime win over Iowa to close out the regular season. He reached double figures in all three of the Huskers’ B1G Tournament games.
At 6-foot-8, Roby brings good size and athleticism to the court. If he returns to Lincoln, he’ll be playing for new head coach Fred Hoiberg, who was introduced earlier this week.
