Nebraska’s win over MSU is the first of its kind in 80 years

Nebraska hosted Michigan State on Saturday and the Cornhuskers seemed to be in deep trouble, despite only trailing by 6 points.
The Spartans led the Huskers 6-0 with 12 minutes left in the game and the offense wasn’t doing much of anything. However, kicker Barret Pickering saved the day.
Pickering hit field goals from 36, 20 and 47 yards away, respectively, to take a 9-6 lead with 5:13 remaining. The Huskers defense went on to close the deal, giving Nebraska its fourth win in the last five games.

Today’s victory is believed to be Nebraska’s first victory without scoring a touchdown since Nov. 27, 1937, when Nebraska won 3-0 on the road at Kansas State.

A 9-6 win doesn’t happen often, as Keith Mann — the assistant athletic director for communications at Nebraska — pointed out.
The win brings Nebraska’s record to 4-7 this season.
