Fred Hoiberg has Nebraska in position to land a high-scoring guard from the transfer portal this offseason.

Former Illinois State guard Antonio Reeves revealed that he’s down to five schools, keeping Nebraska in the mix. The other four programs still in consideration are DePaul, Kentucky, Oregon and Xavier.

Reeves was a high-scoring guard for the Redbirds a season ago, averaging 20.1 points per game during the 2021-22 campaign. He was also extremely efficient, shooting better than 46% from the floor, over 39% from behind the 3-point line and nearly 82% from the free throw line.

Reeves also averaged 3.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest last year at Illinois State. He was an All-Missouri Valley selection and named the conference’s Most Improved Player.

Following the 2021-22 season, Reeves decided to enter the transfer portal.

During his three seasons at Illinois State, Reeves has played in 89 games with 60 starts. He’s averaged a double-digit scoring total each of the past two years and has averaged over 3 rebounds per contest, as well.

Reeves has totaled 1,195 points, 275 rebounds and 118 assists while suiting up for the Redbirds. He will still have two years of eligibility to use at the next stop.

Nebraska is coming off a year in which it finished with a 10-22 record, including a 4-16 mark in the B1G.
