New Nebraska DL Darrion Daniels compares speed of Huskers offense to Oklahoma State

Just yesterday, Nebraska named its four team captains for the 2019 season.

One of them is grad transfer Darrion Daniels, a defensive tackle from Oklahoma State. Daniels, while with the Cowboys, saw his fair share of high-flying offenses. You know, offenses that throw the ball 60 times a game. That’s not insanely unlikely in the Big 12. That’s just how the Big 12 is.

Daniels is now at Nebraska and is a part of the Big Ten, which is known more for its physicality, rushing attacks and good defense. Daniels wasn’t talking about the slow, methodical, punish you up front mentality on Monday though when talking about the Huskers’ offense:

If Nebraska’s offense is as fast as there is in the Big 12, you might as well say that they’re as fast as anybody. That can be not only annoying to game-plan against, but difficult to stop altogether. Daniels then said that Martinez is harder to stop and is “really fast.”

We know these things already based on last season, but for an outsider to come in with loads of experience after seeing fast teams and quarterbacks, it is certainly encouraging. After all, this is why many see the Huskers as the team to beat in the Big Ten West division and why Martinez is a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate.

Nebraska’s 2019 season kicks off at noon ET on Saturday, Aug. 31 at home against South Alabama. The game will be televised on ESPN.
