From the time the bowl season wraps in January to the NFL Draft in April, we hear a lot about movement in players’ draft stock. Some players manage to make themselves some money with impressive performances at the NFL Scouting Combine and Pro Day. Others, like Ohio State DB Kendall Sheffield, see their stock go down as teams begin to take a closer look.

Sheffield, a former Alabama player, was a high-profile transfer. At the time he joined the Buckeyes, he was thought to have a bright future once his college football career wrapped up. Bleacher Report NFL Draft expert Matt Miller, however, says Sheffield has been a “massive faller” leading up to the draft.

Kendall Sheffield was a big name coming into the season as a former Alabama player who transferred to Ohio State and has world-class speed. But it turns out he’s not very good in coverage. Sheffield, as we cross-check rankings and scouting notes for Draft 400, is a massive faller.

As a traits-only player, Sheffield will be drafted, but it will be much later than originally expected.

The siliver lining is that Sheffield is still expected to be drafted. While he might not collect a big signing bonus as a rookie, it sounds like he’ll have the opportunity to make an NFL roster and earn a big payday down the road.

The NFL Draft begins April 25.
