NFL franchise hires former Nebraska OC Troy Walters

Former Nebraska offensive coordinator Troy Walters is headed to the NFL.
Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reported on Monday that Walters has landed a job with the Cincinnati Bengals. He will be joining the franchise as the wide receivers coach. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor played college football at Nebraska.
Walters joins the staff after spending the last two seasons in Lincoln as the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach with the Huskers. After a 5-7 year for Nebraska, Frost and Walters decided to part ways during the offseason.

Walters was the OC for Scott Frost last four years at UCF and Nebraska. Played 8 years in the NFL in Minnesota, Indy, Arizona and Detroit. Stanford alum.

Walters had been a member of Frost’s staff since 2016, when he was the head coach at UCF. Thanks to a high-powered offensive attack, the Knights were able to complete a perfect 13-0 season, winning the AAC title and defeating Auburn in the Peach Bowl.
Despite spurts of offensive success at Nebraska, the Huskers were just never able to click with much consistency in the first two seasons under Frost. It seemed like a change was necessary.
This will be Walters’ first stop in the NFL as an assistant coach. Before Nebraska and UCF, Walters also spent time at Indiana State, Texas A&M, NC State and Colorado.
