Add another layer to the Jim Harbaugh rumors. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says that there’s mutual interest between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Michigan head coach, though that doesn’t mean a deal will come to fruition.

Rapoport said on Saturday that the Raiders have interest in having a conversation with Harbaugh, and that the Michigan head coach is open to listening. This news comes just days after the Wolverines closed out the 2021 campaign in the College Football Playoff.

“Jim Harbaugh has emerged as a name to watch in the NFL coaching searches,” Rapoport said. “Yeah, I know he’s under contract with Michigan and it does seem there’s been some discussions about a potential new deal with Michigan, but from what I understand talking with several sources informed of the situation, the Las Vegas Raiders … are expected to have some interest in Harbaugh. Harbaugh is expected to have some interest in the Raiders.

“At the least, there’s an interest on both sides to make some think that this is at least somewhat real. One source, who’s very-well informed of this told me Harbaugh loves to be courted.”

Harbaugh is coming off his best season at Michigan, leading the team to a 12-2 record, a win over Ohio State and a B1G title. The Wolverines also made their first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff.

The Harbaugh-to-NFL rumors have surfaced every offseason. This year is no different. This time, though, it sounds like there might be at least some substance to the rumors.
