NFL Network analyst ‘applauds’ Chicago for trading up to get Justin Fields

Chicago’s decision to trade up in the NFL Draft to get quarterback Justin Fields is a pretty popular move among analysts.

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah is the latest to give credit to the Bears for making the move on Thursday night. It was an unexpected decision from the organization, but one that might’ve landed Chicago its franchise quarterback.

Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show recently, Jeremiah says he’s a big fan of the move made by the Bears. He thinks Fields could really make a huge difference for an offense that struggled quite a bit last season.

“I thought once he got out of range, if he started getting beyond Denver at nine, somebody was coming up,” Jeremiah said. “But I thought — it sounded like, from what we were hearing — that Washington would have been the more motivated team to come up, with Chicago kind of in a, ‘win right now,’ mode. But I applaud the Bears for doing it. I said it on the broadcast. Last year, that was the most boring offense to watch in the NFL. It was awful. Now, it’s going to be fun. I’m excited to watch what it looks like with them and I thought it was great move on their part.”

Fields was the No. 11 overall pick in this year’s draft and was the first B1G player off the board. He was the fourth quarterback taken, behind Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson and Trey Lance.

There’s an expectation that Fields could start pretty early in his career in Chicago.
