Former Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa might end up being this year’s Defensive Player of the Year. For now, it’s about getting healthy.

Bosa did not practice with the San Francisco 49ers Thursday for the 2nd consecutive day. Bosa has been dealing with a groin injury since Sunday’s win over the Carolina Panthers.

Boas has been one of the driving forces this season for DeMeco Ryans’ defense. In 5 games, the 6-foot-4 defensive end has registered 15 total tackles, 16 QB hits, 6 tackles for loss and 6 sacks. For his career, Bosa has already totaled 30.5 sacks, including a 15.5-sack season in 2021.

The Niners’ defense currently leads the NFL in points allowed (12.2), yards per rush (3.0), yards per play (4.01), yards per game (249.2), first downs allowed (15.8), and several other categories. Currently, San Francisco is on pace for a record-setting season in the Bay Area defensively after a red-hot start.

Drafted No. 2 overall in 2019, Bosa could miss Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. Last week against the Panthers, he registered just 1 tackle.
