Former Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa has long been thought of as the top prospect in the 2019 NFL Draft. He plans to compete in every event to “leave no doubt” that he deserves to be the No. 1 overall pick.
But what if the Arizona Cardinals, the team with the first pick in the draft in April, passes on taking the former Buckeye pass rusher? Bosa made it pretty clear that they would regret it.
“Yeah. Big mistake,” Bosa said, according to NFL.com.
Since the 2018 college football season started, Bosa has been considered one of the top five prospects in the draft. Since the end of the season, he’s been stapled to that top slot among experts like ESPN’s Todd McShay and Mel Kiper Jr. Recently, though, Kyler Murray’s stock has risen quite a bit and there’s some conversation that the Heisman Trophy winner could end up taking over that top spot.
“I wouldn’t say anything about Kyler,” Bosa said. “I would just say that I’m somebody who loves the game more than anybody. I’m going to come in and I’m going to work everyday, every practice, trying to find new things to better myself. If you do draft me, then you have somebody who’s going to improve throughout my entire career.”
Bosa played in just three games for the Buckeyes in 2018, suffering an early-season injury in a September matchup against TCU. In his career, Bosa recorded 17.5 sacks and 29 tackles for loss.
