Nick Henrich exited in overtime of Nebraska’s loss to Wisconsin last Saturday and learned an unfortunate injury update Wednesday.
Henrich retore his ACL and will obviously not be able to play in Nebraska’s regular-season finale against Iowa this Friday. Henrich also tore his ACL last season and fought back to have a strong year in 2023.
“Nick re-tore his ACL in overtime. Obviously, Nick won’t play (on Friday),” said Rhule at his Wednesday press conference. “He has some decisions to make but he’ll walk on Friday.
“That’s why I said on Monday, these guys are giving us everything. Nick’s one of those guys he’s given us everything. So Nick, obviously that was brutal.”
Henrich has appeared in 9 games this season. He’s sitting at 42 tackles on the season with 2 sacks and 1 pass deflection. He will participate in Senior Day activities for the Huskers on Friday against the Hawkeyes, though a decision has not been made on his future with the program.
Nebraska football is fighting for the right to go to a bowl game against the Hawkeyes, who have already stamped their ticket to the Big Ten Championship game against one of Ohio State or Michigan. The Hawkeyes are the No. 17 team in the country per the latest CFP rankings.
The Huskers and Hawkeyes will kick off at Noon on CBS.
