Nick Herbig has been a leader on the Wisconsin defense this season. He offered some hope to Wisconsin fans after the news broke about Paul Chryst’s firing.

Herbig has 17 total tackles this season, including 9 solo and 8 assisted. Herbig also has 4 sacks so far. The Wisconsin LB promised that this season in going to be played in honor of his former head coach.

“Still at a loss 4 words but one thing I do know is we playing this season for you Coach!! Love you beyond measures,” said Herbig.

The defense will need to improve with how close the B1G West is right now. Purdue brought Minnesota down a couple of pegs after upsetting the Golden Gophers at home. However, the Golden Gophers will still need to lose a few more games at least for other teams to have a shot.

Wisconsin’s first game under interim HC Jim Leonhard will be Oct. 8 against Northwestern at 3:30 p.m. ET on BTN.
