There has been a lot of emotional fallout from the firing of Paul Chryst as the head coach of Wisconsin, but one of the biggest reactions now is Badgers outside linebacker Nick Herbig.

After the 42-7 road win over the Northwestern Wildcats, Herbig opened up about the departure in his press conference:

“I lost one of my best friends I saw every day,” said Herbig. “I talked to him last night on the phone. I miss that guy for sure. I know he was watching us today, though. If he is watching this: I love you coach.”

Herbig is in his 3rd season with Wisconsin as he has been a key player for the defense for all 3 years.

Chryst was fired as head coach after Wisconsin lost at home to Illinois 34-10 in Week 5.
