Nick Saban suffered his first loss of the season on Saturday. Paul Finebaum debated whether or not he’s losing his touch with ESPN’s Matt Barrie.
The team has had some close calls in 2022. The Crimson Tide barely escaped Austin with a 20-19 win over Texas in Week 2. Texas A&M almost upset Alabama in Tuscaloosa in Week 6. Saban got his team a 24-20 win over the Aggies after a goal line stand to end the game.
Finebaum doesn’t think that Saban is losing his touch, but discussed where the program is at compared to year’s past.
“No, I don’t think Nick Saban is losing (his touch),” said Finebaum. “But, is the program at the same place it was 2-3 years ago? No, it was a different state. He is at a very dangerous point of his career should he lose another game and get knocked out of contention for the College Football Playoff.”
Alabama could still potentially make the playoff as a one loss team if its wins out. Mississippi State, LSU, Ole Miss, Austin Peay, and Auburn are the remaining teams on Alabama’s schedule.
