Coaches, players and just about anyone associated with college football has taken time to remember the impact former Purdue head coach Joe Tiller had on the game. On Wednesday, Nick Saban had his chance to share his thoughts on the late coach.

Saban was asked about the impact Tiller had on the B1G and in college football, and the Alabama head coach said the Purdue legend was “ahead of his time” and mentioned the wide-open offensive approach and the greatness of quarterback Drew Brees.

Here’s what Saban had to say in full:

Saban was the head coach at Michigan State from 1995-1999 and was 0-3 against Tiller’s Boilermakers. That’s pretty incredible, considering Saban has coached five national championship teams.

It’s just more evidence that Tiller truly was one of the top coaches in college football in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
