Nick Saban has been coaching for quite some time.

This year marks his 44th year in a coaching role. His start was at Kent State as a graduate assistant in 1977, before his first head coaching role at Toledo in 1989. His also spent time in the B1G, as the head coach of Michigan State from 1995 to 1999.

At the SEC teleconference on Wednesday, Saban was asked about another coach that shared the name Saban back in the day who was offered a coaching job at the age of 80 years old. They were referring to Lou Saban, who is related to Nick Saban in name only.

Here’s how Nick Saban responded.

Nick is 69 years old, so he would need to keep coaching for at least 10 more years to catch up to Lou.
