Nick Saban has some high praise for Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola.
Raiola, a former 5-star prospect coming out of high school, won the Huskers’ starting QB job this offseason as a true freshman. He had a strong showing in Nebraska’s Week 1 win over UTEP. He threw for 238 yards and 2 touchdowns in that victory.
On Friday during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Saban talked about the poise shown by Nebraska’s new signal-caller.
“The Nebraska quarterback showed confidence in the game,” Saban said. “He didn’t play like a freshman. And I think that’s really, really important. It’s amazing how mature these guys are when they come in.”

Raiola will face his biggest test yet in Week 2 as the Huskers welcome their old Big 12 North rival in Colorado to town. The Huskers have historically dominated this series, winning 49 of 72 total matchups against the Buffs. However, Colorado has won the last 3 meetings in this series. Nebraska’s last win over Colorado came all the way back in 2010 — the last time these programs met as Big 12 foes.
Underdog Fantasy is projecting Raiola’s passing yardage in the Colorado game at 229.5 yards.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET in Lincoln on Saturday night.
