Nick Saban thinks pretty highly of the SEC and his own Alabama Crimson Tide this year. And while that shouldn’t be too much of a surprise, it is a bit interesting to see just how much he thought of the conference this year.
This week, Saban’s final ballot for the 2019 USA Today Coaches Poll was revealed, giving everyone a chance to see how the legendary head coach voted. Despite finishing the year 10-2 with no wins over ranked teams this year, Saban had his Crimson Tide ranked No. 5 in the final poll.
Overall, Saban had five SEC teams in the top eight spots.
Here’s a look at Saban’s complete top 25 ballot:
- LSU
- Ohio State
- Clemson
- Oklahoma
- Alabama
- Georgia
- Florida
- Auburn
- Oregon
- Baylor
- Wisconsin
- Penn State
- Utah
- Michigan
- Notre Dame
- Iowa
- Memphis
- Minnesota
- Boise State
- Appalachian State
- USC
- Cincinnati
- Oklahoma State
- Navy
- Air Force
Saban did have the four teams that reached the College Football Playoff in his top four, but it may be a bit generous to have Alabama at that No. 5 spot. It’s especially interesting he has the Crimson Tide ahead of Auburn, which won the head-to-head game in the season finale.
Obviously, Saban’s ballot has no impact on the College Football Playoff rankings, but it’s still interesting to see what his thoughts are on the college football landscape.
