Michigan quarterback Joe Milton was able to see some playing time in the blowout win over Rutgers, and his arm strength continues to impress his teammates.
Milton’s stat line against the Scarlet Knights was brief but solid. He completed 3 of 4 passes for 59 yards and a touchdown while adding a rushing touchdown.

When asked about his performance, Nico Collins had plenty of interesting things to say. Collins admitted that it hurts a bit to catch Milton’s strong throws. And while Collins will occasionally encourage Milton to add a little touch to his passes, everyone on the team is expecting a “dart” on every throw.
Angelique Chengelis with The Detroit News shared Collins’ comments:
Also asked Nico Collins about Milton ….said his passes "hurt"
asked if he ever tells Milton to tone it down. He said sometimes he tells him to "put a little touch on it. But that’s Joe. He’s always going to throw a dart, we all know it, so you have to prepare for it."— angelique (@chengelis) October 1, 2019
Chengelis also asked Lavert Hill about Milton’s strong throws. Hill admitted that he tries to avoid Milton, saying his throws are too hard. He went so far as to say that he tries to just bat down Milton’s throws instead of catching them when they face-off:
Asked Lavert Hill if he ever plays catch with Joe Milton: "I really try to stay away from Joe Milton. He throws the ball too hard for me. So I just try to stay away from him. If I’m going against him, I just try to bat the ball down." (Hill was laughing the whole time here)

It was good to see Milton get some playing time Saturday, and it is also good to see his teammates have a bit of fun with him on Tuesday.
