Nimari Burnett will graduate from Alabama on Aug. 5th, and that will allow him to be immediately eligible for Michigan next season as a grad transfer, his father told Jon Rothstein.

Burnett averaged 5.6 points per game last season at Alabama, and he’s considered one of the top on-ball defenders in college basketball. Burnett in late March will be at his 3rd program as he started his career at Texas Tech.

Burnett has quite a history with Michigan as coach Juwan Howard received a minor NCAA violation after he said Burnett’s name specifically during a news conference before the recruit had signed any paperwork, before the Wolverines initially lost out to Texas Tech.

Burnett started 9 games at Alabama, and shot 32.1% from 3-point range. He did not play in 2021-22, and will have 3 years of eligibility remaining.

Burnett is a former McDonald’s All-American. He was a 4-star prospect and the No. 34 overall player in the country in the class of 2020, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
