Purdue basketball is rarely run out of the gym by an opposing team, especially not at Mackey Arena. That only makes Saturday’s loss to Iowa State that much more shocking; the Cyclones dominated the No. 1 Boilermakers in the second half to win 81-58.

In fact, it was so bad that Purdue’s loss will go down as the 2nd largest home loss ever by an AP No. 1 team. The worst was Connecticut’s loss to Villanova in 1995. By nature, this makes Saturday’s loss the worst non-con home loss by AP No. 1, ever.

And while Purdue looked far from the No. 1 team in the country, you have to tip your hat to Milan Momcilovic and the Cyclones, who put together one of the best games of the season. The rebound and turnover margin was similar, and Purdue shot more free throws. The difference, really, was perimeter defense. Purdue finished 4-18 from range while Iowa State was a red-hot 11-23.

Of course, fans from around the country took great pleasure in flaming the Boilermakers for a rough performance against Iowa State. Here’s a look at the best reactions we found:
