No. 14 Purdue obliterates Ohio State, sits alone atop B1G standings

Purdue now sits atop the B1G standings alone.
Thanks to Indiana’s upset win over Michigan State on Saturday afternoon in Bloomington, Purdue’s 86- 51 victory over Ohio State at Mackey Arena put the Boilermakers in sole possession of first place in the league.
The Boilermakers never trailed in the game, and jumped out to a quick 21-11 lead in the first nine minutes of Saturday’s contest. From that point, the contest was never really in question, as Matt Painter and Co. continued to build on a big lead.
Purdue led by as many as 39 in the second half in a game in which they could do no wrong.
Carsen Edwards led the way for Purdue with 25 points in the game. Also reaching double figures was Matt Haarms, who scored 12, and Aaron Wheeler with 10 points off the bench. He also grabbed seven rebounds.
Ryan Cline and Grady Eifert, the two seniors celebrating their final game at Mackey Arena, each had eight points.
With the win, Purdue improved to 22-7 on the season and 15-3 in the B1G. It owns a one-game lead over Michigan and Michigan State in league play, both are 14-4.
Purdue finishes its season with back-to-back road games. The Boilermakers travel to Minnesota on Tuesday before concluding their year with a road trip to Northwestern.
