There’s been plenty of college football chaos in 2020. We might have reached the peak on Saturday with Clemson-Notre Dame.

In a double-overtime thriller, the Fighting Irish pulled off the upset of the top-ranked Tigers, 47-40.

Notre Dame jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the 1st quarter, taking advantage of the absence of Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence, who is still sidelined after testing positive for COVID-19. The Irish built on that lead and were ahead 23-10 in the 2nd quarter before taking a 23-13 advantage into the locker room.

Clemson was able to storm back and take a 4th quarter lead at 33-26 with 3:33 left to play, but Notre Dame scored with just :22 left in the game to force overtime.

After Notre Dame took the lead with a touchdown, Clemson couldn’t respond. This is the first time Notre Dame has beaten a top-ranked team in South Bend since a win against Florida State in the 1990s.

The win is legitimately exciting for the Fighting Irish, there will possibly be a cloud of doubt of how impressive it is since the Tigers did not have Lawrence.

Notre Dame is now 7-0 on the season while Clemson is now 7-1.
