There will not be any capacity restrictions for Northwestern University home athletic events for the 2021-22 year. The school sent out a statement on the situation on Tuesday.

That means the Wildcats will allow 100% capacity for home football games this fall.

Several schools in the B1G and across the country have already announced 100% capacity for sporting events this year. The good news comes after the conference restricted general attendance at sporting events for the 2020-21 year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Northwestern is looking to defend its B1G West crown from 2020, finishing the season with a 7-2 record and appearing in the B1G Championship Game for a second time in three seasons.

Northwestern’s season will begin on Friday, Sept. 3 at Ryan Field as the Wildcats host Michigan State in a cross-division game. There will be a total of six games played in Evanston, with the ‘Cats hosting MSU, Indiana State, Ohio, Rutgers, Minnesota and Iowa. They will also play Purdue at Wrigley Field on Saturday, Nov. 20.
