Northwestern DB coach Jerry Brown to retire after 25 seasons

Jerry Brown has been a member of Northwestern’s coaching staff for a quarter of a century but the Wildcats’ Music City Bowl game on Friday night was the last one he will coach in.

Following the Wildcats’ 24-23 win over Kentucky in the Music City Bowl, head coach pat Fitzgerald met with the media for the post-game press conference, where he made the announcement public. Brown was the team’s defensive backs coach.

Brown has been a member of the Northwestern coaching staff since 1993, coming to Evanston initially to work under Gary Barnett. He stayed in town after Barnett departed and continued to coach under Randy Walker and Fitzgerald.

Brown is also a Northwestern alum.

Since 2002, Brown has served as the assistant head coach for the Wildcats.
