Northwestern DB JR Pace pens heartfelt goodbye to Wildcats

After four years starring for the Northwestern defense, JR Pace has elected to forego his extra year of eligibility and move on to the next level.
Pace has been a part of a successful run in Evanston. He announced his decision to pursue the 2021 NFL Draft via a heartfelt message on Twitter on Sunday:

As you can tell if you read the message, this goodbye most certainly comes on good terms. It appears that Pace has nothing but love for his teammates and the program itself.
Pace just recently wrapped up his fourth season playing in the Wildcats’ defensive backfield. Though he has registered four years of playing time, all NCAA football players could play in 2020 and not have the season count against their eligibility.
Pace hails from College Park, Georgia, where he was a three-star recruit. He got on the field right away in 2017. As a freshman, he finished with four tackles, two interceptions, and two pass breakups.
Starting his sophomore season, Pace was a mainstay at defensive back for Pat Fitzgerald. He was part of the 2018 and 2020 squads that captured B1G West titles and challenged Ohio State in the B1G Championship Game.
At this point, it’s unclear where Pace may end up in this year’s draft. There’s a lot of time before then for Pace to make an impression on scouts and other coaches.
