Northwestern football has been known as the B1G’s Ivy League school. Based on Pat Fitzgerald’s comments, academics play an extensive part in terms of recruiting.
According to Fitzgerald’s tweet, the Wildcats have a 97% graduation rate among players this season. That currently is the highest graduation rate among FBS schools for the sixth year running entering the 2023 recruiting cycle.
The promise we make in recruiting. The commitment we make every day to prepare these young men for life. Proud to rank #1 in FBS! 🎓 #GoCats pic.twitter.com/6y1vbgRe6M

In terms of on-field production, the Wildcats might need to hit the books. The playbook, that is. Northwestern is 1-9 on the season and hasn’t won a game on American soil since Oct. 2021.
Surprisingly, the Wildcats have been 1 of the B1G West’s more consistent programs since 2012. Northwestern has posted 3 seasons of 10+ wins and won the B1G West division title twice. Over the last decade, the Wildcats have finished above .500 6 different times.
The Wildcats will face Purdue on Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette before closing out the season at home against Illinois.
