Northwestern football staff member reportedly leaving for NFL job

It looks like Northwestern will be looking to fill another position on the football staff this offseason.
According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, the Wildcats will be losing longtime staff member Cody Cejda to a position in the NFL. Rittenberg is reporting that position will be as a special assistant to new Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley.

According to Northwestern’s directory, Cejda held the role of Director of Football Operations and Strategy since 2011. He helped oversee day-to-day operations, budgeting of the football program, and also served as the NFL liaison for the Wildcats.
It has definitely been a busy offseason across the board for Northwestern. AD Jim Phillips left to become the new ACC Commissioner and long-time defensive coordinator Mike Hankwitz announced he was retiring after an incredible coaching career.
Filling another position in a busy offseason may not be what the Wildcats were hoping to do, but their long-term stability should be fine as long as Pat Fitzgerald is in town. With his new contract in hand, Fitzgerald should be ready to keep Northwestern rolling right along.
