Earlier Sunday, we saw a ranked Illinois squad fall on the road in Big Ten action. Is there a chance we could see another ranked Big Ten squad stub its toe on the road?
At the half, No. 4 Michigan State has its hands full with Northwestern in Evanston. The Spartans trail 43-28. Michigan State has been perfect so far this season, entering the game with a 6-0 record.
The story of the first half for the Spartans was poor shooting. Joey Hauser and Rocket Watts started this game a combined 0-for-10. That didn’t help as Michigan State finished the half shooting 34.4 percent from the field and 4-of-15 from three.
One of the bright spots for the Spartans in the opening 20 minutes was the play of Gabe Brown off the bench. He has a team-best 8 points to lead Michigan State. Aaron Henry was the Spartans’ best starter of the half with 6 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Northwestern is halfway to an upset thanks to the fact the Wildcats are shooting above 50 percent from the field and 50 percent exactly from long-range. Boo Buie leads Northwestern with 14 points. He’s also a perfect 3-of-3 from three-point range.
Pete Nance is the other Wildcat in double figures as he has 11 points to go along with 9 rebounds.
