Northwestern suffered a pair of decommitments in the class of 2024 Tuesday night.
The Wildcats lost pledges from 3-star offensive linemen Julius Tate and Payton Stewart.
Their decisions come in the wake of Northwestern’s hazing scandal, which cost coach Pat Fitzgerald his job earlier this week.
Here are their announcements:
First I Would Like To Say Thank You To The Entire Staff At The University Of Northwestern. Thank You For Giving Me The Opportunity and Believing Me.
With That Being Said I Will Re-assess My Collegiate Decision and Hurts To Say I Will Be Decommitting From Northwestern University. pic.twitter.com/MZrzpBmBUm

Tate is the No. 736 overall player and the No. 48 interior offensive lineman in the country for the class of 2024, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He committed to Northwestern back in May of this year.
Stewart is the No. 839 overall player and the No. 66 offensive tackle in this cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He also committed to the Wildcats back in May.
Tate and Stewart were 2 of the 3 top-ranked commits in Northwestern’s 2024 recruiting class. Overall, Northwestern is now down to 12 commits in this cycle.
It’s possible Northwestern will lose additional commitments in the coming weeks as more recruits deal with the uncertainty of the program’s future. Northwestern could also be dealing with transfer portal losses before the start of the 2023 season.
