Two offensive players and two defenders will represent Northwestern as team captains for the 2017 season.
Clayton Thorson, Justin Jackson, Godwin Igwebuike and Tyler Lancaster were voted as team captains by their teammates on Friday night. Thorson is the only junior to receive the honor while the other three captains are seniors.

All four players were significant contributors for the Wildcats last fall. Thorson threw for more than 3,000 yards in sophomore campaign while Justin Jackson led the B1G in rushing with 1,524 yards.
Igwebuike tallied 108 tackles last season and intercepted two passes. Lancaster started all 13 games, totaled 28 stops and recorded 3.5 tackles for loss.
Northwestern opens the season against Nevada in Evanston on Sept. 2.
