TJ Green—who looks exactly like his father, former Indiana Hoosier and NFL quarterback Trent Green—is calling it a career after six seasons as a backup quarterback at Northwestern University.

Green appeared in parts of 15 games across six campaigns, throwing for 32 yards and one touchdown while adding another rushing touchdown of his own.

From his personal Twitter account, Green wrote:

“6 Years. 6 Hats. 5 Bowl Games. 2 Big Ten West Championships. And Countless Memories,” Green wrote with idiosyncratic punctuation.

“23 years later and it’s time to hang up the cleats…Thank you [Northwestern football family] for giving a walk-on the opportunity to play Big Ten Football. I’ll always love the Cats! #GoCats.”

Green’s career is another in an endless line of stories that demonstrate what make college football so special. It’s not necessarily how much you play on Saturdays, but it’s the memories you make and the contributions you add as a teammate and brother with a group of guys pursuing dreams and goals bigger themselves. He’s not going on to the NFL like his father before him, but that never was what it was about, anyway.
