No. 9 seed Northwestern is onto the Super Regionals after a dominant weekend of play hosting the Evanston Regional.

Entering Sunday, the Wildcats had already posted blowout wins over Oakland and McNeese to advance to the regional final. Northwestern faced McNeese in a rematch on Sunday and did not need to go to a second game of the regional final.

Northwestern opened the scoring right away with one run in the bottom of the 1st inning. Things really started to break open in the 3rd inning as Northwestern added 4 runs.

Then, already up 5-1 entering the bottom of the 4th inning, the Wildcats provided the big punches. After starting the inning with a single and a double, Rachel Lewis stepped to the plate and drilled a 3-run home run on the first pitch of the at-bat.

Later in the inning, Angela Zedak delivered what would be the knockout blow. Zedak launched a mammoth 2-run shot onto the Welsh-Ryan roof to make it 10-1 Wildcats.

Northwestern would go on to finish a 10-2 win in 5 innings to wrap up the Evanston Regional. The Wildcats move on to their 6th Super Regional appearance all-time and their 2nd since 2019. During the regional round, Northwestern outscored its opponents 36-to-7 while going 3-0.
