It’s good to see Northwestern having fun over some comments made by Ohio State head coach Ryan Day this week.
According to Austin Nivison with Bucknuts, Day admitted that the Buckeyes are taking some extra measures to prepare for the natural turf at Ryan Field. Some in the past have claimed that the Wildcats keep the grass longer than necessary as an attempt to slow down opposing teams, but Day said the focus is simply on adjusting to a different playing surface.

However, Ohio State’s equipment crew is ready to have the right cleats in place for the game:
“Yeah, we try not to overdo it but we mentioned to them that it’s natural turf, we practiced on the on the grass,” Day said. “And we’ll have the proper footing that Kevin Reis and everybody in the equipment room thinks are best for that surface, maybe a little bit longer cleat. But other than that, we don’t really talk about it much.”
On Wednesday afternoon, the Northwestern Football Twitter account decided to have some fun with the topic. The account tweeted out a photo with a ruler “measuring” the grass and the caption “Almost ready for Friday night.”
Needless to say, this is pretty funny:

What do you think is the actual length of the grass?
