Is it too early to call for an upset alert in Indianapolis?
Northwestern definitely appears like it came to play on this Championship Saturday. The defense has held down Ohio State early. Meanwhile, the Wildcats came out on offense and quite literally ran over the Buckeyes on the opening drive that was capped off with a touchdown run out of the wildcat formation.

That was freshman running back Cam Porter taking that ball into the end zone for the opening score. It seems like an especially sweet score for Porter given that he is a Cincinnati native.
Porter has slowly emerged into a key factor in the Northwestern running game. Last week, he ran all over Illinois as he rushed 24 times for 142 yards and two touchdowns.
On that opening drive, it seemed as if just about anybody could be running for the Wildcats and have success. Whenever one of the Northwestern players took off with the ball, they deked and scurried past the Buckeyes. Ohio State is going to need to clean that up if the Buckeyes are going stay unbeaten.
