Notre Dame faces a tall task for its season opener, traveling to Columbus to face Ohio State inside the Horseshoe to open 2022. Unfortunately for the Irish, they could be missing a key piece on the offensive line for that game.
Jarrett Patterson, a key starter on the offensive line, is dealing with a foot sprain, head coach Marcus Freeman announced Thursday. Patterson is officially listed as “questionable” for Week 1 as a result, but Freeman did not rule out Patterson playing.
Guard Jarrett Patterson has a foot sprain and is questionable for Ohio State. Freeman said knowing Patterson’s mentality, he very well may be on the field in Columbus.

As part of the injury, Freeman said Patterson will not be able to practice for the next 10 days before being reevaluated. Fortunately, if he is cleared after 10 days, Patterson should not have much issue getting up to speed with 34 career starts.
Marcus Freeman says Notre Dame left guard Jarrett Patterson has a foot sprain. He's out for 10 days, and then he'll go from there. Questionable for Ohio State.
Freeman: "I expect him to be out there because I know the type of competitor he is."

Notre Dame is also dealing with the absence of wide receiver Avery Davis. Davis injured his knee in training camp and will miss all of 2022.
We’ll see how the Irish line up when they come to Ohio State in Week 1.
