Former Penn State QB Christian Hackenberg’s tenure in Oakland didn’t last very long.
After the New York Jets traded him to the Raiders earlier this offseason, the ex-Nittany Lion is apparently a free agent for the first time.
ESPN NFL insider Field Yates broke the news on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, as you can see below:

Hackenberg was a second-round pick of the Jets back in 2016, but never lived up to expectations. Despite New York’s struggles at the quarterback position, Hackenberg never saw the field during a regular-season game.
The good news is that Hackenberg still has some time before the start of the 2018 preseason, so there’s a chance he can find a new team before then. However, the clock is ticking on his NFL career.
