NFL teams had to cut its rosters down to 53 players on Sept. 1 and a number of talented, well-known names were left with having to find a new home.

Former Penn State LB Jason Cabinda did not make a 53-man roster, but not all was lost. On Sunday, it was reported that the Oakland Raiders signed the former Nittany Lions tackling machine to its practice squad.

A number of quality NFL players who make significant impacts on Sundays had to start on practice squads around the league. It may seem like a downer for Cabinda’s career — not making a 53-man roster — but having the opportunity to show your skills in the NFL gives promise.

Cabinda amassed 285 tackles in his four seasons at Penn State and 268 of those came in his final three years. The 6-foot-1 linebacker went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft.
