Offensive showcase: Maryland QB Tagovailia, Minnesota RB Ibrahim both impressive in 1st half

If you love offense, then the first half from College Park was just for you.

Friday night’s game between Minnesota and Maryland provided plenty of offensive entertainment — and very little defense. Two players stood out the most through the first 30 minutes, Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa and Minnesota running back Mohamed Ibrahim.

Tagovailoa completed 13-of-17 pass attempts for 210 yards with 2 touchdowns and an interception in the first half. He also totaled 73 yards and a touchdowns on 5 carries. His one TD run was a 39-yard scamper in the opening quarter.

Ibrahim racked up 130 yards on 21 carries on the ground, scoring 4 touchdowns in the first 2 quarters. That touchdown total is a new career-high for the Gophers RB and tied a school record.

Below are some of the first half highlights:

Maryland jumped out to a 14-0 lead to start the game and was up 21-7 at the end of the 1st quarter. However, an interception by Minnesota defensive lineman DeAngelo Carter set up a tying touchdown for the Gophers, and Minnesota was able to force the Terps to punt on the ensuing possession.

The Gophers own a 28-21 advantage at the half.
