Ohio governor expects full football stadiums this fall

In four months, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine expects to see The Horseshow at full capacity.
According to the Toledo Blade’s Kyle Roland, DeWine believes that stadiums in the state of Ohio to operate at 100% capacity for the upcoming sports seasons. This news comes a year after the B1G did not allow any general attendance at football games.
“Ohio has set a benchmark that we will remove COVID mitigation protocols when we drop below high case levels,” DeWine’s office said in the statement. “This will happen when our two-week rate drops below 50 cases per 100,000 residents. We believe this is likely to happen well before the start of football season, and the CDC echoed that optimism in statements this week.”
As part of the return to play plan, the B1G only permitted the family and close friends of student-athletes and coaches to attend games last fall. This spring, the conference eased its attendance restrictions, allowing schools to make their own decisions based on local health recommendations.
Ohio State’s first home game of the 2021 season is set for Saturday, Sept. 11 against Oregon.
