Christopher Vargas, one of the top quarterbacks in the Class of 2028, just committed to Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Vargas chose to play for Ohio State over Oregon and other offers.

It’s still very early, but Vargas is looking like the next elite college quarterback. He’s considered to be the No. 1 overall QB in the Class of 2028 per 247Sports’ composite rankings, and he’s a consensus top 10 player in the 2028 cycle.

Vargas hails from St. John’s Prep in Danvers, Massachusetts. He stands at 6-foot-4, 200 pounds and also plays baseball while competing in track & field.

Vargas finished last season 9-1 as a sophomore and threw for 1,857 yards with 24 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions, completing 75% of his passes. Obviously, he still has a lot of growing to do as he enters his junior season, making him that much more exciting of a prospect.

According to 247Sports’ Andrew Ivens, Vargas is known for being extremely precise while also holding an impressive football IQ at such a young age.

Ohio State currently has 4 players committed in the Class of 2028. Alongside Vargas, the Buckeyes also have 4-star WR Jett Harrison, 4-star Edge Jameer Whyce and 4-star RB Elijah Newman-Hall.
