Ohio State adds experienced kicker Jackson Courville via transfer portal

Ohio State is adding to its special teams for the 2025 campaign to defend its national championship.
Jackson Courville took to social media on Saturday to announce his transfer commitment to play for the Buckeyes. A Dayton native who prepped at Centerville High School, Courville heads to Ohio State after 2 seasons at Ball State.

Courville was a freshman in 2023. He assumed the primary placekicking duties from the season opener, becoming the program’s first true freshman to do so since 2015.
Courville made 24-of-25 PATs and 15-of-21 of his field-goal attempts in his first season. Four of those misses came from beyond 50 yards, while he was 8-of-8 inside 30 yards and 12-of-13 inside 40 yards. With 69 total points, Courville finished the 2023 season as Ball State’s leader in total points.
This past season, Courville played in 9 games. He was 11-of-13 on field-goal attempts and made 30-of-31 PATs. Courville made a 52-yard field goal, his career-long, as time expired to lift Ball State over Northern Illinois. He also had 7 kickoffs in 2024.
