Ohio State adds graduate transfer tight end from SMU with zero career receptions

It’s January. The bowl season has come to a close and only the College Football Playoff national championship remains.
It’s the time of year when transfers are aplenty. Typically, when a powerhouse program welcomes a transfer from a smaller school, that player was highly productive during their time before joining the new, bigger program.
However, on Thursday, Ohio State welcomed a graduate transfer tight end from SMU has zero career catches:
.@OhioStateFB officially announces its 14 early-enrollees from the 2020 recruiting class. It's OSU's largest group of freshmen to enroll early. Team also announces addition of walk-on grad transfer TE Corey Rau from SMU. Winter workouts start next week.

It should be noted that Corey Rau is walking on with the Buckeyes. Again, he has zero catches during his time at SMU, but has dealt with numerous injuries over the years, appearing in just six games.

Coming out of high school, Rau was a three-star prospect according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
