Ohio State adds to top-ranked 2025 recruiting class with elite defender, former Alabama commit

Ohio State is once again building an ultra-elite recruiting class under Ryan Day. Already the top-ranked class for 2025, the Buckeyes added another game-changing prospect for the cycle Monday morning.
The player is Zion Grady, a 4-star recruit out of Alabama. Grady originally committed to the Crimson Tide in November but re-opened his recruitment after the retirement of Nick Saban.
Now, Grady is committed to the Buckeyes as another top-100 player for Day and his staff:

Grady is listed at 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds out of Enterprise (AL) High School. The 247 Sports Composite has Grady rated as a 4-star recruit, the No. 6 edge prospect nationally and the 66th overall play regardless of position.
Landing one of the top players from Alabama over plenty of SEC offers is significant for the Buckeyes with Day’s program continuing to pull in commitments from across the country.

Examining Ohio State’s class
Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting class is currently the elite of the elite, and for good reason. The Buckeyes not only have the most points of any recruiting class on the 247 Sports Team Composite (297.68 total points), but their average score of the class also leads the nation with a 94.18 average across 19 commitments.
Grady joins Ohio State’s class as 1 of 13 players with a 4-star composite rating. The Buckeyes also have a trio of 5-star prospects, leading the nation in that category as well. (Georgia and LSU are the only other programs with 2 5-star commits.)
Devin Sanchez and Na’eem Offord, a pair of 5-star cornerbacks rated as the No. 5 and No. 6 players in the country, headline the class. Overall, Ohio State holds pledges from 10 players ranked withing the top-100 prospects in the country.
Simply put, if Ohio State keeps this up, it will run away with the nation’s No. 1 class and a group that could reach historic proportions for the composite era.
