Ohio State just picked up an experienced B1G veteran from a rival school.

On Tuesday evening, former Penn State guard Jamari Wheeler announced that he is transferring to the Buckeyes. Wheeler will spend his final collegiate season in Columbus after spending four seasons in Happy Valley.

This is a huge addition for Chris Holtmann’s squad as they pick up an incredibly seasoned and productive player. In four seasons with the Nittany Lions, Wheeler has appeared in 127 games with 84 career starts.

In the 2020-21 season, Wheeler averaged 6.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.8 steals. He is a two-time All-B1G Defense selection and has a career average of 1.5 steals per game.

Penn State has recently hired Micah Shrewsberry to lead the Nittany Lions basketball team, and a host of players have been entering the transfer portal. While some of those players may decide to return to Penn State, we now know that Wheeler is one that is moving on.
