Ohio State is good at beating good teams.
Don’t take my word for it. ESPN’s Chris Low dug up a stat that puts Ohio State as the second best team in college football at beating AP Top 25 ranked teams since 2015.
Best winning % against ranked teams since 2015 (minimum 20 opponents played) as we dive into the first game week of the 2022 season:
1. Alabama – 83.3%
2. Ohio State – 80.5%
3. Clemson – 78.1%
4. Oklahoma – 73.5%
5. Georgia – 63.1%
6. Oklahoma State – 60.6%
7. LSU – 58.9%— Chris Low (@ClowESPN) August 21, 2022
Winning over 80% of games against top 25 teams is crazy enough, but Ohio State faces an awful lot of them too. The Buckeyes will face four preseason AP Top 25 teams this season, including Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Michigan and Michigan State. Penn State and Iowa are not far behind, both receiving votes as well.
