One Ohio State assistant dealt with an unfortunate carjacking during a recent recruiting visit.
According to Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer, Buckeye TEs coach Keenan Bailey was carjacked Monday afternoon near Ginn Academy while on a recruiting visit. The carjacking led to a police chase and the arrest of four youths.
Fortunately, Bailey was not harmed in the incident. A team spokesperson confirmed the assistant has since resumed recruiting activities.
The carjacking involving Bailey was part of a spree by four individuals with ages ranging from 15-18. Those individuals were eventually arrested after a chase involving a police helicopter.
Cleveland Councilman Mike Polensek, a board member for Ginn Academy, said the incident involving Bailey occurred in the school’s parking lot while classes were in session.
“I’m disgusted about it. It’s bad enough that this crime took place in our community but in an area that has little crime,” Polensek said.
Fortunately, Bailey is okay after the incident. He is finishing his first full season as the TEs coach for the Buckeyes but has been with the program since 2016.
