Ohio State basketball added to its 2025-26 roster on Tuesday, claiming international prospect Mathieu Grujicic out of FC Barcelona.
Grujicic, who is 17 and will be 18 by the time the season rolls around, stands at 6-5 and saw action with FC Barcelona’s 2nd team and U19 squad.
This is a much-needed add for Ohio State, as Grujicic adds a strong shooting element to their roster. Grujicic shot 40% from 3 last season and averaged 13.6 points per game while also adding 3.5 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game. While it’s initially unclear whether his play will translate to one of the top leagues in the country, the Big Ten, his offensive upside is definitely worth the roster spot.
Ohio State is entering Year 2 under head coach Jake Diebler, who took over for Chris Holtmann after a disappointing tenure in Columbus. Ohio State finished just above .500 in Diebler’s first season, but finished 9-11 in Big Ten play.
The Buckeyes return Bruce Thornton and saw some strong pickups in the transfer portal that should bolster their hopes heading into next season, such as former Indiana PG Gabe Cupps and Wright State PF Brandon Noel.
