Ohio State basketball withdraws from Crossover Classic due to COVID-19 concerns

Ohio State basketball won’t participate in the Crossover Classic, the Buckeyes another casualty of the logistics in place due to COVID-19.
Jeff Goodman of Stadium is reporting that Ohio State is out of the early season tournament “due to the spike in cases in the state, and a 14-day quarantine upon returning to Ohio.” That restriction would certainly be a hamper on their schedule.

The Buckeyes were supposed to start their season at the Crossover Classic with a game against Memphis on Nov. 25 and conclude the tournament two days later. Five days after that, Ohio State continues its non-conference schedule against Morehead State then followed up by Alabama A&M (Dec. 5) and Notre Dame (Dec. 8).

All three of those games would fall within the two-week quarantine window for Ohio State.
It is a blow for Ohio State, given the level of competition at the Crossover Classic. The tournament featured some of the top programs in the nation, all of whom would play a minimum of three games in Sioux Falls, SD.
No word on any replacement yet from Ohio State to round out their schedule.
Teams across the country have struggled to fill-out their non-conference games this year due to the restrictions in place for handling the coronavirus.
